NHS dithio PEG Cholesterol is one of Nanocs’ Cholesterol derivatives that can react with primary amine groups. Cholesterol is an essential lipid component to build and maintain basic animal cell functions. In addition to its structural functiona, cholesterol is also the important precursor for the biosynthesis of steroid hormones, bile acids and vitamin D. Succinimidyl ester (NHS) functionalized PEG cholesterol can react with primary amine groups derived from proteins, antibodies, peptdies and many other molecules with high efficiency. Reaction between NHS and amine allows conjugation of cholesterol moiety to those molecules quickly and easily. Resulted cholesterol conjugates can be used for biological system study, drug delivery and many other applications. Dithio linkage between NHS and PEG cholesterol can be easily cleaved by disulfide reducing reagents such as DTT or TCEP, thus conjugated PEG choesterol can be reversibly released. PEG linker between NHS and cholesterol offers better water solubility, reduced steric hindrance and enhanced stability.
